Taking three boxes to create this shelter, a visual similarity was established between the shadow of the unfolded box and the shadow of the client’s Cessna 170. After all three boxes were cast onto the landscape, one in the morning, one at noon, and one in the evening – representing the different programmatic requirements of the client during the process of a day – each of the two-dimensional shapes was then brought together and made to enclose inhabitable space through the operation of folding. The result is a shelter inscribed with the identity of the landscape and the memory of aerial photography.
